I've always been a nature lover in my bones. Sure, I love city hopping and now living in Montreal, but I frequently find myself craving the medicine of nature. It’s where I came from, and where I go back to to refuel my cup. Luckily, there’s plenty of nature surrounding the city, and The Laurentides region is a special place I recently visited for the week of my birthday that I want to share the magic of with you today.
The Laurentians is a captivating region, rich in history and surrounded with stunning landscapes. This gem of a territory, just north of Montreal, is a blend of peaceful lakes nestled among forests of maple and pine. Even the most dedicated city-dwellers will find their hearts stolen by its tranquil beauty.
With 22,000 square kilometers of pure delight, the Laurentians offer an endless array of natural wonders. It’s home to Mont Tremblant, perfect for skiing or snowboarding in the winter and hosting activities throughout the summer like Blues Fest. No matter the season, the Laurentians invite you into a unique experience each time, making it a place you’ll want to rediscover over and over again.
Of course, the more time you have to spend the better, but I recommend at least 3 nights to truly relax and enjoy the activities the region has to offer. My partner and I were invited for a 6 night stay at a modern chalet in the town of Amherst, enjoying the luxuries of home, yet still in the forest. Over the next week, we spent time connecting with nature, BBQing, and doing fun activities like feeding deer, bison, and elk, blueberry picking, whitewater rafting, and hiking.
Lets dive in as I highlight my favorite experiences from my trip in the Laurentides, so you can plan your adventure mixing a bit of relaxation and activity!
